Designing a New Generation
Economic Impacts
By having designer babies being born, future generations could possibly be free of life-threatening diseases. Within a few hundred years scientist hope to get rid of genetic and heriditary diseases and possibly with upcoming years eliminate cancer from future generations.
When getting rid of dieases health care cost will eventually go down significantly in prices, due to people not being so vulnerable to diseases and needing less medical atention. The only draw back would be the descending need for doctors, nurses, health care providers and hospitals.
With this this great impact on the economy , on the need for less medical insurance the the government can spend thier time on other more important topics.

The Government Speaks Up
Since the development of "designer babies" the government has been keeping a close eye on PGD (Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis). Even though this technology is still new, the government wants to put in a good amount of thier focus on the economic and health disarities between the rich and the poor to keep the balance of the three classes under control. The average cost of PGD, including in-vitro fertilizliation is between $12,500-$16,00. Even though some insurance companies cover the cost of genetic screening most do not and people have to pay out of pocket. Through the governments involvment, the United States has made it illegal to create a designer baby unless needed to do so to prevent harmful diseases.
